Clean and Sustainable pathways for KSEBL - Harnessing Wind Energy and Integrating ESG Frameworks
WRI India has been actively engaged in Kerala, focusing on supporting the state in developing strategies to increase the share of renewable energy in the state's energy mix. The Government of Kerala has also announced its ambitious plan to transition to 100% green electricity by 2040 as part of its net zero commitment. The Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) is the state-owned electricity utility that owns and operates the electricity generation stations, and the distribution and transmission networks in the state.
KSEBL, which caters to ~99% of electricity requirements in the state, has a significant role to play in the ongoing energy transition in the state. KSEBL’s needs a strategic approach for sourcing clean energy to meet the increasing electricity demand in the state.
On March 21, 2025, WRI India will partner with KSEB to host an interactive discussion and capacity-building workshop for KSEB's technical staff. This workshop is designed to encourage knowledge sharing and foster meaningful discussions on wind energy and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices among KSEB staff.
Experts from WRI India will present key research findings on wind energy relevant to Kerala, while also engaging in discussions on broader clean energy pathways, strategies, and concepts of ESG frameworks for KSEBL. The workshop will include hybrid interactive sessions, enabling discussions on Kerala-specific challenges and solutions, along with insights from a broader group of WRI India experts.
This workshop will have the following sessions based on WRI India’s research curated for Kerala’s priorities:
- Renewable Energy Technologies for Kerala
- Scaling up of Small Wind Energy
- Onshore Wind energy
- Offshore Wind energy
- Concepts of Environment Social and Governance aspects in utilities
