Capacity Building for Integrated Resource Planning in Rajasthan
Rajasthan, with approximately 33 GW of Renewable Energy (RE) installed capacity as of January 2025, is a frontrunner in India's clean energy transition. The state has set an ambitious target of 125 GW RE projects by 2029-30 under its Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024. To achieve this goal and ensure resource adequacy, grid stability, and sustainable energy growth, a systematic and data-driven planning approach is essential. Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) provides a structured framework for utilities, regulators, and policymakers to evaluate multiple energy pathways, optimize investments, and align with regulatory mandates such as the Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2022, and the Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2023.
This workshop marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to equip key stakeholders in Rajasthan with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective IRP implementation. WRI India, in partnership with Prayas Energy Group and the Energy and Market Lab (EmLab) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will work closely with state utilities, regulatory authorities, and academic institutions to build capacity in energy modeling and power sector planning. Through a series of training sessions and engagements, the initiative aims to develop a robust IRP process tailored to Rajasthan’s energy vision and needs.
Join us for this inaugural workshop to learn about IRP concepts, discuss Rajasthan’s energy future through scenario development, and explore practical modeling approaches for integrated planning. The event will feature insights from leading experts and stakeholders, fostering dialogue and collaboration towards a sustainable energy future for Rajasthan.
